(This is a translated repost of Sonntagsmusik: Sebastian Arnold - Mixtape 2018 on Progolog.de, who contacted me in 2019 after I pointed out on Twitter that I had started producing yearly mixtapes a decade ago.)
2018 brings us very close to the peaceful heart of this series. That’s probably thanks to fellow artists Arnalds and Frahm, who gave us two masterpieces of their very own genre this year. But it’s also thanks to the intricate, laid-back grooves of Kamaal Williams and the supergroup R+R=NOW, which shape a second facet of this tape and, during this time, opened up a whole new world of alternative/fusion/acid/garage/future jazz for me.
