Mixtape 2020

(This is a translated repost of Sonntagsmusik: Sebastian Arnold - Mixtape 2020 on Progolog.de, who contacted me in 2019 after I pointed out on Twitter that I had started producing yearly mixtapes a decade ago.)

In 2020, the world has come to a standstill. All of this year’s new music releases are taking on a completely new context for me: Were the songs written and recorded in the “old” days before #StayHome and social distancing? Does that make them less relevant today? Will I be able to see these bands perform their albums live anytime soon? What am I actually going to do with my own projects that aren’t finished yet? It’s a time of collective perseverance – but also a time when many things are surfacing for which there simply was never any room before. We might as well / might as well / start all over again.
